I love walking the Hill with my grandkids and talking to them about their great grandpa who served in the army for over 45 years! What a great tribute Memorial Hill is to help us all remember what a great country we live in and that this land is sacred and we should do all we can to preserve it! I’m submitting my photo from last year as I love the patriotism it portrays!!
A little rain can’t keep me from visiting Memorial Hill while visiting Midway! This is one of my favorite places to visit as it gets me out of my big Florida city and gives me a true sense of serenity. Midway is magical and I hope it stays that way despite all of the growth. I hope you all realize how a slower pace with less traffic and less commercial is what brings your tourists coming back! Love it here!!!!
Midway means “home”. It means “freedom”. The views that we have that other towns and cities don’t have is what I love about Midway. The fields that are open feels like we aren’t all crammed together. I see the fields and I see more places to have adventures!
“The view from Memorial Hill brightens my day. When I go to bed at night the sprinklers in the fields push me to sleep like a lullaby. When I think of all the people who went to war to make our world safe so I can live in Midway without war interrupting the beautiful sounds I hear in Midway makes me very thankful for the sounds of the birds singing, crickets chirping, the cranes flying by, the sounds of the stream coming through our yard from Snake Creek, my neighbor’s tractor cutting hay at night all make me feel safe in Midway.”
Life as a mom gets so busy and coming up to Memorial Hill today was such good reminder to “slow down & look around”. I found names of past and present veterans who fought for me to be able to live in this valley. Their sacrifice inspires me to be more grateful and respectful for this beautiful valley that surrounds the Memorial Hill’s view. I grew up in Midway listening to the stories from my great grandma Coleman “Mama Violet” tell about her parents Louis Coleman and Rachel O’Neal and their life growing up in Midway. As a mother now, I look over this valley from Memorial Hill and retell these family stories to my children and teach them what a precious gem Midway is. Some of us come to Midway to heal, to be closer to family, to start a new family, to enjoy the outdoors & get away from the city-life. Midway means all of those things to me. I’m glad I took time today to “slow down and look around”.
Midway to me means a place where there’s land and space, nice people, and animals of all sorts. I’m young now and I hope this town could stay the same.
This round sprinkler line epitomizes the view of Midway and the entire Valley. The sound of real sprinklers, the smell of fresh alfalfa being cut, the work ethic of farmers and ranchers. True country living!!! I’m disheartened knowing of the development going in this very spot that will make this picture only a memory. I can’t control growth or what others choose to do with their land but I can always cherish the memories and the privilege of being a free citizen. Thanks for giving me the prodding to capture this memory!! Love Memorial Hill!!
The more I learn about the history of the Valley, the more I truly appreciate those that have come before us — and you can’t beat the view at any time of the day!

Memorial hill has always held a special place in my family. It represents the sacrifice and bravery of many to keep this country safe and with relatives names on it, it provides my family with a reminder to be grateful for the safety and freedom we are blessed to live in, in this country.
The view from Memorial Hill combines historic courage and present opportunities. The beauty is inspirational. It makes us want to protect it. Be grateful.
Midway has been a blessed place for my family since the days of Fort Midway.

This may not be taken from the top of memorial hill but it was when I coming back from enjoying the walk. I was heading home in the early morning during winter. I think it truly describes “pure midway” it was a breathtaking morning … we are lucky to live where we do!

My first memories of Midway are from the 80s when me and my family would come here for family reunions. Midway means rural, livestock, old trailers, and fences. People who lived here earned their way through life through toughing out hard winters pot rock and grit. Midway used to be based on livestock. Cows, sheep and the people that fed them and milked them. Solid people and people who knew they had something special.
My name is Indie Seraphin. I am a good Memorial pup, meaning I am always under control and My humans always clean up after me. I always jump up on this wall when we reach to top for my photo opp with Princess Timp and Deer Creek behind me. I love meeting all the friendly people walking or jogging. Most of them pet me a bit or say a few nice words. The views are wonderful and I usually get to chase rabbits and geese. Heaven on earth!

My parents brought our family on a ride through Midway prior to moving here in 1973. We drove to the top of Memorial Hill to see the view, then my Brother and I ran all the way down the road to the gate. I still enjoy making the run to the top of Memoriall Hill and back.
Every time I look at Midway from the Hill I am reminded how blessed I am to live in such a beautiful town.
Midway is the calm in a world of chaos. It’s a safe haven. Somewhere to slow down and take in all of the beauty the world has to offer. It’s family. It’s Home.

I knew I was in the right community when I found Memorial Hill. The walk up and finding the tributes to all who who have served deeply affected me. I walk the hill daily. My daily walks are my time to meditate and reflect on my own service and the people that I still call brother and sister. Thank you for such a wonderful, beautiful place.
They say it takes a village to raise a child…. there is no other village I would rather have to help raise my 8 children. There is a goodness in this community that I haven’t felt anywhere else. Midway means unity and goodness. The roots here run deep and for that Iam so grateful.

To me Midway means family, friendship, integrity, and good pace. Everything can’t be easy, but I think Midway is a great reminder that you can get through it with your family and friends, but you have to have some integrity and a good pace.
With Memorial Day around the corner I thought I would show my respect to veterans in a photograph. This picture was taken at the top of Memorial Hill in Midway Utah. I have summited this hill at least once or twice a week for the last 8 years and I never tire of seeing the names of veterans from Wasatch County listed on the plaques. I have sat in front of the “Battle Field Cross” many times and counted the many blessings that are mine because of their sacrifices. The more I understand, the more I appreciate all who gave some and those who gave all.
Memorial hill is also all about the fourth of July and remembering that we stand upon the shoulders of giants. The fireworks are always a friendly reminder of the “rockets red glare and the bombs bursting in the air” of every war and every hero that has stood for freedom.
Memorial Hill is also about the fourth of July and families.

Midway is a small no chaotic little town. You can come and get away from the life of a city. You can take a little bit of time and focus on the beauty of the world and pay attention to the good things around you.
I think Midway is beautiful.
It’s a small town and I like that we can all know each other. The community is like great family. The veterans are all very important to all of us. I’m glad Memorial Hill is here to help us remember them.
Memorial hill is a place were we honor those who lived in Midway and faught and are still fighting for freedom and peace. The names show me how many people are willing to sacrifice their own lives for others and our country.
Memorial Hill is a place were we honor veterans who risked their lives for others and their country. It’s amazing how many people have served our country in only Midway.

We live in such a beautiful valley!! The lush green fields, Deer Creek lake, and the mountains. A great place to see these views is from Memorial Hill. It’s the perfect place to sit and lookout over these views, and think about those who served our country so we get to enjoy them.
To me, Midway is a peaceful oasis where the beauty of nature and the warmth of the people combine to create a community like no other. I asked my girls what Midway means to them and they said, “trees, family, and fun!” What a place to grow up!
We Moved here 8 months ago from Boston and love this town!!
We moved here in July 2015. About a month later we took a drive around Midway and found Memorial Hill. It was inspiring to drive up to the top and see the memorial and take in the beauty of the valley. Thank you!
We live our lives at the foot of this protective sentinel. We raised our children here and now play with our grandchildren in its shadow. We have hiked it hundreds of times, sometimes in stroller brigades, sometimes with headlamps on New Years Eve, sometimes with family dogs, sometimes on our horses (when it was okay to do so). Each season the views from the hill deliver a sense of peace and belonging I have not talked about the names on the plaques as often with my children or grandchildren as I should. But my heart is grateful to the men and women whose names are there. I am grateful for the example of the men and women from this valley who worked to preserve this hill for the memory of those who served. I am grateful for the tenacity of those worked diligently to find and replace the names when the plaques were stolen. And I am grateful to those who continue to work to preserve and improve the hill and what it represents.

Squirrels in Blue Salute!
Midway is a great place for everyone! Kids, families, adults, Seniors, nature lovers, painters, exercise enthusiasts and cub scouts. We had a great time hiking up Memorial Hil and learning about some of the wonderful servicemen and women from this beautiful valley, who served us and our country.
Midway means driving past fields and shouting “ponies!” every day and having my 9 year old tell me they are technically horses, not ponies. It means daily delight over the changing snow and light on Mt. Timpanogos and the surrounding mountains. It means mooing at the cows in the Kohler pastures as we ride by on our bikes. It means emerald green vibrance and calming waters. It means treating everyone’s children, dogs, livestock, land and homes as if they were your own. It means walking up Memorial Hill every year and remembering the veterans who served so we could have the freedom to take that short but meaningful journey. It means kindness, cooperation and responsibility to work together as a community. It’s our town with our collective soul and we all share its heartbeat.

We love watching the Whitaker goats, especially all the babies. This one tried to follow us up the hill! My mom always tells us that we are her mountain goats scampering up Memorial Hill!!
